How do I run a speed test for my web browsers?

I used Interent Explorer, Firefox and Opera. In 2007 opera is known as fastest web broswer and Explorer the slowest. It is still the same with Explorer but I had download a file and the download speed of firefox is the fastest. So if Firefox was fastest at downloading that file is it the fastest for web browsing?

4. safari is currently the fastest browser for web browsing but it takes more memory than firefox... the second is firefox then opera the last is IE

6. Opera is still the best at downloading and for browsing. And now Mozilla FirefoX 3 Beta comes up and it has a high performace in Browsing but not at downloading...Tested in many computers with different connections. Sometimes the internet Speed changes according to the time that you get connected to internet...
