How do I stop Firefox 2 from scanning my downloads?

It takes a lot of time and I don't need it because I have my own anti-virus. Its Firefox 3. Sorry.

  1. I do not know what you mean I have run all versions of firefox from 1 to 3 and never had them scan my downloads i think you are mixed up somewhere
  2. I think you may be referring to the Download Manager. It doesn't scan the downloads; it just filters them so that if, for some reason the download is stopped, then you can re-start it at a later time from the point where it stopped. Say for example, you are downloading a fairly large file, and, in the middle of the download, you get a power blackout, or you loose your internet connection. When you get back on line, instead of having to re-start the download from the beginning, the Manager will simply continue it from where you left off.
  3. You can't.Basically, if you have an Antivirus at home that firefox supports, then it'll run a virus scan with the antivirus before opening the file. It is for your own safety !!!!
