How do you make computer programs, like web browsers and word processors?

I need to know how to make programs for windows and linux OS and what I can use to help me. Help?

1. You need a compiler and you need to learn programming. Honestly, it's a lot of work. People go to school for years to get a degree to do that kind of stuff.
2. You write the program code in a programming language (for instance the ever popular C++) and then (usually) compile the code into an executable format. As far as learning how to do that, I would suggest you look for books (library's a good source) or even classes on computer programming.
