How do I transfer my bookmarks back to Firefox 2?

I uninstalled Firefox 3 and reinstalled Firefox 2 and all my bookmarks are gone. Someone on yahoo answers said they wouldn't be gone and they are. However, I did a search for something on my hard drive and came across a Bookmarks menu in favorites folder in my administrator user account. I use Windows Vista Home Basic. all my previous bookmarks are there and so are the folders. How do I get them back to my Firefox 2 browser?

  1. You can using firefox backup. Download here mozbackup.jasnapaka.com
  2. Your bookmarks are not gone. When you uninstall Firefox on Windows, all you do is remove the program, not your profile, which is where your bookmarks are kept. Open windows explorer, browse to Documents and Settings, then into the folder with your user name...that's your profile. Search that directory tree for a file called "bookmarks.html" That your bookmarks file from FF3. Make a note of the path to the file. Now, open FF2. Click Bookmarks, then Organize Bookmarks. When the editor opens, look for Import on the menus. You want to import that HTML file you just found in your search. Do the import and all your current bookmarks will be in the right place.
  3. first you could import them to internet explorer and than import them from internet explorer back to firefox the best bet is just to reinstall firefox 3 because of how safer the browser is and how faster. plus some of the features that come with ff3 aren't a part of ff2 and are very beneficial... unless you only care about the themes than knock yourself out!
