What sources are good for some one who likes to gather open source intelligence research as a hobby?

I am the kinda of guy who likes to know about what is going on in the news, before it becomes news. Seeing how I am in the military, I can see such a hobby being an asset to my current job. So my question is where do you get your non-mainstream news, information and intell My current sources are from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_intelligence Just looking for more.
